• Yes it works with DirectTV. We have both Gen 2 and 3 and they both work.

• They both work with my Direct TV and my Vizio Smart TV. I can also turn off my kids Xbox which is great for me, brutal for them.

• Yes, you can link the 3rd generation Dot with DirectTv, but I don’t know if the 2nd gen is compatible with DirectTv or not.
