Absolutely the Echo Dot 3rd gen would be a great gift for asking questions, listening to music, playing games like Jeopardy, but for watching Videos I would recommend The Echo show devices since those have a visual component to it.

This is good for listening, it does not have viewing capability. For viewing, I would recommend Amazon Echo show over other products.

Yes, it would be a great gift for kids. It seems to be more helpful than Google. We have been using them for years.
