You can mute the Alexa. That way it can be used strictly as a speaker. I would recommend something else honestly because at low to normal volume it is great but at higher volume it distorts. A standard Bluetooth speaker would do you better I think. JBL makes a good range of speakers and I have used quite a few of them.
