Hello TomD3, you want to know if the Amazon Fire 7 Tablet (7" display, 16 GB) is back lit, to be able to use outside for boat navigation app. The Amazon Fire 7 Tablet (7" display, 16 GB) is not back lit, and will have glare when use outside, you are able to purchase a matte/non-glare screen protector that will allow you to use it outside with no glare.
