• You have to have wifi to be able to get new books from the library or store. If its already downloaded in to your kindle then you can read offline.

• Have to have WiFi to get the books.and I tried us cellular. But because fire don't have a place for sim card they cont hook me up

• The kindle fire that I have needs wi-fi to get the books. Mine is the 5th generation (2015) model. I did not purchase any network systems.

• Your books can be transferred to your device automatically using Whispernet, however, you must have a Wi-Fi connection for Whispernet to work. Once your books are transferred to your Kindle you do not need Wi-Fi to read the books as they are stored on your Kindle.
