• A:Answer They are the same product. Every Fire tablet is also a Kindle reader. The newest 10" 7th generation Fire HD tablet is a great Kindle reader and I bought it primarily for that feature.

• A:Answer No, the 10" Fire HD tablet does not come with a cover. You can buy a good one made for Amazon at Best Buy for about $40. But you can also find generic covers that fit fine for far less. The only issue is the wait time for the cheaper covers.

Under Display within the Settings folder, you find several options, including Adaptive Brightness as well as Display Brightness. Check those settings to see if your issue is coming from that. Adaptive brightness optimizes the brightness level based on the available light in which you are operating. Check to see if that setting is "on" or "off."
