Yes, you can use either Versions of the Amazon Fire-Sticks (both 1080-HD & 4K-Ultra), without Alexa. We have both the HD and 4K Versions of Amazon Fire-Sticks, & we only use the Remote Control.. The Remote Control works with most Smart-TV's (Samsung, LG, and Vizio in our house) to control Power & Volume, along with Controlling the Fire-Stick to connect to the Wi-Fi Network (SSID & Password), and obviously Control Program Selection(s) on the Fire-Stick. No "Alexa Voice Command" Required.. Hope this helps..

Yes, Alexa is built into the remote but you have to press a button to enable as you speak. Lots of times we forget and just use the remote.
