You can’t directly to the stick itself. But you can to the TV, that way whatever is playing in the TV will sound in the surround sound, the stick, cable box, etc

Yes definitely during set up of the remote indicate that you don't hear sound from the TV and it will ask if you are using a receiver and will prompt you to set it up instead. It will also select the HDMI channel you are using through your home theater.
