• I think the screen resolution... but if your tv is not 4k ready, then there will no difference...

• The regular Fire TV stick can support the maximum HD screen resolution only on HD TV or even on 4K TV. For the 4K Fire TV stick version, it can support both HD and 4K screen solutions on the 4K TV having very nice pictures.

• The regular doesn't support 4K TV and it doesn't have volume control the 4K version has both.

• See the specs. Even if you don't have a 4K TV, the network connectivity is a lot better so you can stream without the annoying pauses.

• 4K is capable of much higher picture quality, but only if you have a 4K TV. Since that is the norm now - it’s good to be future-proof and go for the 4K.
