It’s not necessary. I have one and trying to get them to fully communicate with each other. Right now the Echo works as a wireless speaker for it

This remote includes Alexa, so you don't need an Echo. However you can control the fire stick using the Alexa app, once you add it to your list of Alexa devices.

Not needed for the stick. Has alexa on the stick.
