I would recommend getting an antenna for your local channels. It is amazing the amount of channels and clarity you can get with an indoor antenna. That is what we do rather that paying for Hulu.

YouTube TV has local news channels and 70 other stations. Hulu is a good choice too. The Firestick gives the the ability to access the apps. So no, you can't get local for free just by having a firestick. It's not an antenna, only a gateway to apps.
