That's all you'll need, one open HDMI input. The usb can connect to the tv as well or to the nearest wall outlet, with included usb hub.

Or did you mean the new UHD, ultra high def, 4k tv's? Basically, if it has an hdmi port on the tv, then the firetv stick will work with it. It connects to your home wifi and streams netflix, etc to your tv.
