• Hi Jan, No, the Alexa feature is not a requirement for usage of the Fire TV Stick. If you opt out of Alexa, you will just lose the ability to use voice control for the device (but it can be enabled in the menu so no worries). Have a great day!

• You don't have to use Alexa but when you turn Alexa off in the settings to have some privacy, the Firestick will constantly prompt you to turn it back on. Its really annoying
