Yes you still have to pay for services of apps. Pandora is free like others but you get a free month of sling tv.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not a dumb question at all and your analogy to a SmartTV is pretty close. Any Apps you would use, like Netflix or Hulu, still require subscriptions. Now, some people like the fire stick because it’s easier to use then a SmartTV and has features that some don’t (for example, you can control it with your voice through Alexa) or maybe you have an older tv that’s awesome but doesn’t have the Smart TV capabilities- rather then buy a new TV you can get this. Depending on when/where you buy it, you may get promos (I got 30 days of SlingTV when I bought this for my Mother-in-law).

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does not come with that. You would have to download a app for that called cinema.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you do have to have or pay for the subscription for Hulu, NETFLIX, etc. Also it does turn your tv into a smart tv where all your apps can be used on it. However some people have been known to override certain features so that you can have unlimited access to movie and tv show. They just google how to. Then you will have free and unlimited movie and tv show access when using the device.
