Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can absolutely use the Firestick without the TV remote but the firestick does not contain universal remote capabilities so it will not control any of the TV functions like turning it on and off, adjusting the volume, etc. Depending upon the TV however it may turn on when it detects activity on an HDMI port where the firestick would be plugged in so you at least don't have to worry about turning the TV on but you'd have to look that up for your TV as to whether or not it will auto-power on by detecting HDMI activity.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Generally, you need your TV remote to Power on and turn off your tv, as well as to control the volume. Additionally, you need your tv remote to select the "source" or "input" for the picture (usually) "HDMI port 1 or HDMI port 2" . Once selected, the firestick remote is used to select the channel you wish to watch. Easy to do!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I read somewhere that it could be done but I haven't tried it
