Yes, you need a wireless network connection for this to work. It does NOT have an Ethernet jack, so wired is not an option.

Yes you do randy for the "fire stick" , but for the fire TV you can connect with wi/fi or direct to your modem with an Ethernet cord,... its a tad bit more expensive...hope this helps
