They are much the same, but one might be able to program easier or have different ways to maneuver within their system. Personally, I chose Firestick and am totally satisfied with the options available. I will not change.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Chromecast streams things like movies, music, tv shows from your phone, tablet or laptop to your tv. Firestick is it's own thing that plugs directly into your tv. There is no streaming involved. You simply plug it into your tv and choose what service (Netlfix, Hulu, HBO, etc) you want to watch with the included remote. You can use your voice to choose content as well but I haven't tried that. Chromecast also does not support Amazon video so if you intend to watch movies or listen to music through your Amazon Prime account, you will need Firestick or another Amazon product. Hope this helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The firestick has an android based OS which means apps can be added. Chromecast will only accept devices connected to it in order to show from your device to TV. Chromecast does not have an android OS.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Fire TV Stick is a self-contained streaming device; it only requires a Wi-Fi connection to the internet to stream media to your TV or monitor. The Chromecast requires a separate device, like your computer, an electronic table or smart phone to send the streaming content to it, before it can be viewed on your TV or monitor.
