A:AnswerThe FireStick uses applications that can be downloaded. For this reason many major networks have apps: Fox Sports, ABC, CBS, etc. This includes the OWN network. Be aware that each requires a subscription or existing TV Provider account to view content.
A:AnswerI can't answer that particular question as I am still learning about all this Cut the Cable stuff. I had noticed that some of the streaming services that I did a free trial with did not seem to have much in the way of local channels. So I decided to go with a Mohu Leaf 30 Antenna to get the OTA (over the air) channels and it works great. I get all the local channels in my area plus a possible 60 plus channels total and they come in with a really good picture. This might be a good way to go and they also have a Mohu Curve 50 which is amplified and looks really nice. It is something you could put on a shelf and it looks good. The leaf 30 has a range of 30 miles and the 50 has a 50 mile range. Hope that helps!!
That way you have the best of both worlds. You have your streaming over the Fire Stick and your local channels and more on your Antenna....it's for me the best way to go!!
A:AnswerYes, via the Watch ESPN app. This app requires a valid cable subscription with access to content you are attempting to stream. E.g. - If you have Big Ten on your cable subscription, you will be able to access it via the Watch ESPN app when signed in using your cable provider creds.
A:AnswerAnimal planet is available with the Mobdro App. It is an Android application that can be used with the Firestick but you will have to allow downloads from unknown sources. There are some glitches with this app since it has ads which are difficult to maneuver past with the remote but it is available and it works.
A:AnswerIt will stream anything from the internet that you would normally stream on your computer or tablet VIA wifi or Bluetooth directly on your tv. You can also mirror a device to it via wifi or Bluetooth. eg. I'm typing this on my amazon kindle fire 8hd but at the same time I can see it on my tv.
A:AnswerYes. In order to get the best experience from streaming media, you'll need a high speed connection. You may still be able to stream with lower speed connections, but you'll experience a lot of buffering of your programs.
A:AnswerYou do have access to a very good selection of shows. However, the voice command pre-selects pay per view channels. If you type in the shows name, you can get more selection of free stations that play the show. For news, you have to look around. Type in CBS NEWS and they have a continuous broadcast for the news (with about 2 minute breaks for commercial spots). However, you need to select the proper icon for continuous news play. The same for many of the news stations. Additionally, Sky News and Al Jazeera are two international stations that have continuous new feeds for free.
A:Answeranyone that is reliable and gives atleast 15 mbps of download speed. That's what i have and it works just fine for with only stuttering when someone else is using the internet heavily, ie downloading large files or playing games online.
