The built in voice assistance only responds to questions when you use the wake word Alexa,Computer, or Echo. Unless you use one of these wake words Alexa you don’t have to worry that she is ease dropping on any of your conversations.

The Alexa voice service is integrated as part of the remote. You have to push the microphone button on the remote for it to work or hear you. When you take your finger off the microphone button it stops working. It does not continuously monitor for your voice the way an Echo or Google Home device does.

I am not sure if its always listening but for you to be able to use the recognition you need to press the button then it listens, but not sure if its always on regardless like your phone.
