• You have to subscribe to an app, like "Hulu with Live TV" that provides local channels as part of their lineup.

• What Amazon 4k Fire TV does is let you execute apps. I use the app Hulu with Live TV (subscription required) to cut the cord. With this app I get local channels, sports like ESPN & SEC Network, news like Fox & CNBC and many others. The only way to get local channels is through an app.

• Order DirecTV NOW. It has your local TV channels, too, if you can't use a over the air antenna to pick them up for free.

• Depends on your location. Best way and free is to get an indoor antenna. Next you can get DIRECTVNOW, they might habe local channels, again depends on where you live. I would suggesg looking at the available channels with DTVNOW, Sling, Hulu, and Playstation Vue - all have apps on the Amazon Fire TV
