• Most portable air conditioners would draw too much current for the plug - its rated maximum amperage is 15A, and some portable air conditioners can draw many times that when first starting up.

• I think it should. I have 2 of these 1 is plugged to an window ac unit. I named the plug ac and can turn it on or off by saying Alexa(or whatever wakeup word u choose) turn on/off ac. Should probably chat with someone from amazon if you want to make sure.
