No, however you can have the extender kind of clone your SSID close to it. I.E if you SSID on your original router is "ONE" the extender would be "ONE_RE" for the 5ghz and "ONE_RE_2.4" for the 2.4 ghz.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is why I called AMPED support, because the instructions were a bit unclear. They don't recommend this. But, yes, you can use the same SSID; just overwrite the pre-filled info in the provided entry box. But, you may not want to. I've typically setup my add-on router with the same SSID/Password to allow roaming. (In theory . . ) Your Wi-Fi connected devices will jump to the stronger signal. But, you only know for sure if you run tedious tests or use a network analyzer. I never see the "jumping" happen unless I turn off Wi-Fi and then put it back on. And maybe not then, either . . and more testing. AMPED offers to clone your settings during setup, appending a few letters to the SSID to identify this new network. I let this happen (with a simpler ID), and used the same password. I now have to intentionally select this new network (but the password is saved for auto-connection). I no longer wonder if I'm using the better/nearer WiFi source. And, it really takes little effort to switch between networks.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Technically, yes, you can give it any SSID that you choose. However, we recommend that you create a separate SSID as this will ensure that your devices are not confused when connecting to your strongest network signal. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sort of. You can clone the router settings which will use the same settings and passwords as the router but add the letter WR or EX to the name so that you know that it is the extended network.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will "clone" your SSID by adding a suffix to it, but it won't let you use the identical SSID. If you want to extend a network that way, you need to go with a mesh network.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. You have to setup the device first, but do not tell it to reset until your done. You have to do the manual setup. A list of things you will have to do after either wiring the router and the extender together or completing the wireless bridging. 1. Turn off DHCP on the extender 2. Make sure the 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels for the extender are on different frequencies/channels 3. Give both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz the same name and password as your router (EVERYTHING IS CASE SENSITIVE) 4. Double check all the above has been done 5. Tell the device to reboot After your done you will no longer be able to access the extender but it should be broadcasting. Most devices should automatically switch between the two when the signal has become bad for one of the access points. Some devices you will have to turn WiFi off and on to get them to change what access point they are getting to connect to. I have not had this problem. I use the above setup myself with a wired connection between the router and WiFi Extender, essentially using it as an access point. I don't even know what my cap is on wired or wireless, but doing tests I have got up to 800 mbps (file transfer between two computers, the limiting factor here was a mechanical hard drive on one end) on the wired and 400 mbps on the wireless (at 10 feet and connected to 5GHz channel on a mobile phone. Test conducted using speed test website.). Note: If for any reason you have to make a change to the WiFi Extender you will have to use the reset button on the back of it wiping all settings.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can use the same SSID as an existing modem or router. However, you should make sure that you have the correct security in place.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I wasn't able to get this to work with my TWC/Spectrum Modem/Router combo, with the same SSID, effectively.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.NOPE... and besides it will stop working at all ... so dont worry and move on to netgear
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, in the set-up for the extender, you can tell it to clone the settings from the home network, which, according to the instructions, will copy the SSID.
