No this antenna is what they call multi-directional. For the best reception of the farthest/ weakest stations it will need to be pointed it that direction. I have mine mounted on the roof top and I am receiving stations over 50 miles away both north and south but I also get signal from closer stronger stations to my east. www.tvfool.com may help you choose an antenna that will work for you once you know what direction the stations you want to receive. You may not need a long range antenna.

I called the company and they were able to tell me the exact direction to point it for the most signals from my home. I pick up 63 stations all being broadcast from approx. 50 miles away in Orlando and I live in Merritt Island.
