You need to do some research and calculations to know whether the UPS would operate a sump pump. The electrical characteristics of the pump motor must be matched to the electrical characteristics of the UPS. The pump motor will draw more current (amps) when the pump is started than the current required after starting. The UPS must able to provide the required starting current. The capacity of the UPS battery must be specified to run the pump for the amount of time you need. You should probably contact the UPS manufacturer, provide a specification sheet that provides the electrical characteristics of your sump pump and specify how long the UPS must power the pump. With this information, the UPS manufacturer can recommend a suitable UPS for your application.
