Yes. You can power a small fan off of this battery back-up. However, the duration of fan function is related to the power drain on the battery. A fan set to high speed with stop working before a fan set at low speed, etc. The battery comes with software that shows you the exact energy drain of everything you have attached to the battery. Once you know the energy drain on the battery by the fan at the speed setting you prefer, then you can accurately predict long long the fan will continue working.

Here's a link to the runtime chart from APC: https://www.apc.com/products/runtime_for_extendedruntime.cfm?upsfamily=29&ISOCountryCode=us. You can see that the runtime for the BN900M with half-load (240 Watts) is about 10 minutes. If you have less than 240W draw, you can expect a much longer runtime. But this is not a good use for this device. It is intended for short term battery support for power outages and long term power conditioning for connected devices. For your stated purpose, a small battery/power pack or generator would be a better choice. I won't refer you to another vendor, but you could start your search with this Duracell unit offered by BestBuy: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/duracell-powerpack-pro-12000-mah-portable-charger-for-most-usb-enabled-devices-black/6168418.p It has a stated runtime (for a 240W continuous draw) of 4 hours.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Thank you for your interest in our product. Yes the fan would stay powered during on a power outage. The runtime would really depend on how much power the fan draws. I suspect it isn't that much so the runtime would probably be around 3 hours if not more. We would need to know the exact power draw of the fan and tablet to get a better estimate on how long the UPS would last while on battery.
