Thank you for your inquiry. The UPS will support a 400w PC but it will be close to capacity. The unit would support 480w of equipment connected too it. Since it will be at full load you would only get around 2 minutes of runtime. You may want to look into something like our BR1000G if you wanted a little bit more runtime. The BR1000G would provide around 8 minutes of runtime.

An expectation of 5-10 minutes sounds reasonable. There is also a USB port on the backup as well that you plug into your computer. Their software called PowerChute will give your computer an immediate signal to go into hibernation mode when power loss is detected.
