You really don’t. If you have a smartphone, you can use the hot spot feature to connect to the internet.

It’s optional, but it’s basically if you want service on a tablet instead of a phone. Con is you really can’t use it for calls

If you leave your WiFi signal, you would need cellular connection in order to use it.

I DONT KNOW . Only if ya wanna to use it outside of ya house instead
