It could mean someone purchased it and there was a minor problem with the unit. It was repairs by the Geek Squad and place in open box for resale. It does not have the same warranty. But you can purchase one.

I think the difference is the fact that the 5 mini-10th generation supports thick borders, and has the home button which can be used to exit out of apps and entering the electronic. The iPad Air on the other hand is similar to the iPhone models so far from 2019-2022, which have the swipe to leave thing on the bottom! This is what is on the iPad Air except, its Touch ID, and you have to go the top button (to enter the iPad) and then you get in. so its not face ID. :D No problem!
