It has the USB-C connector. So u either need to purchase new ear phones (wired) w the USB C , which can be had fairly cheaply on Amazon. Or get adaptors for your lightening cable ones or the audio type cables. All on Amazon. I bought a few of each. Or go wireless. I prefer wired so I don’t have to worry about charging them or losing them. And they work great and r pretty cheap.

You will have to use Bluetooth earphones because it only has a type c port

I recommend using AirPods, AirPods Pro, and/or AirPods Max with an iPad like that one. However, it'll work with any pair of bluetooth earbuds or headphones that are Apple compatible.
