• All of the apple pencil versions are compatible. However, if you have the first gen apple pencil then you need to use the adapter it comes with to pair it with the ipad A16, because it has a lightning charger end and the ipad has a usb-c charging port.

• The Apple Pencil First Generation so long as you have the USB-C to Apple adapter (which comes with the pencil). I got this one to go with my iPad A16 for and it works. The Apple Pencil (USB-C) should also work, though I have not tried myself.
