Yes. You will need a HDMI Thunderbolt adapter, either Thunderbolt 2 or 3 depending on your model. You will need an HDMI cable also. Connect the Thunderbolt cable in the back of your iMac ( the little port with the lightning bolt near it, there should be 2) and then connect the HDMI cable between the adapter and your second screen. Then in System preferences (found under the Apple icon pin the upper left) go to displays. You can either mirror your screen or use your 2nd screen as a second desktop.
