The flashing lite means you have an update available for your router

Make sure your computer is on then check network prefernces to make sure your firmware is up to date.

You should have a solid green light, try going through the set up again. If you have an iPhone or iPad it should auto connect when you have wifi on and open settings.

The light indicates that there is an update that needs to be made. Go to Airport Utility and click on the icon of the device to update the software.
