Does this work with the Xr, or do I need to get a dongle? null

You will need to get a dongle, they do have corded headphones that don’t require a dongle, it will say “lightning” instead of “aux” and those are usually the same price and plug into your phone like your charger would. You would need one of these options for every model after the IPhone 8. If you have the funds I would greatly recommend a pair of AirPods which connect via Bluetooth and are wireless.
