    • Answer This is the Wifi model. The Wifi is built into the device. If by chip you mean SIM card to make it work with a wireless carrier such as AT&T or TMobile, it doesn’t have that capability. You’ll want the Wifi+cellular version if that were the case.

  • QuestionCan this iPad be used in my car, in conjunction with Apple Car Play, as a navigation tool? Downloading Google Maps is easy, but can it lock onto a satellite signal?

    • Answer No. You need an iPad that has cellular, like Verizon, ATT&T for example. Then you absolutely can use with Apple CarPlay. Apple's Maps app is better than Google Maps on Apple CarPlay, in my opinion.

But note, it will use your smartphone's data. You can also contact a wireless service provider to get a wireless plan specifically for your iPad.
