“I just received the 128GB unlocked (activate later) version. Why did the phone include a Verizon SIM card? I removed the SIM before powering on but the phone does not indicate that it is unlocked (I.e. no SIM restrictions).”

Never mind. I upgraded to IOS version 14.3 and it now shows "Carrier Lock - No SIM restrictions".
