I think it won’t be a problem to buy the iPhone X or any other phone with your ID.....they won’t ask for SSN to buy anything, but I think you won’t be able to connect it and get a service with a phone company without an SSN. To open accounts with most companies, the first thing they ask for is SSN. Good luck!
