“My 2019 model has the heat sink issues and the old keyboard. Will the new 2020 with i5 processor be better? I like the 2019 model but the fans come on after a few minutes of doing some gaming. I did get the 2019 at a good price.”

The 2020 will be better for gaming than the 2019 model but take in consideration that the MacBook Air wasn't designed for intense gaming. So depending on what type of gaming you plan to do you might have the same problems with the 2020 model. For mild gaming you won't have any problems.
