Yes this laptop is good for movie editing. My wife and I use it for basic video blogging and do not run into any problems with lagging or exporting videos. the only thing is make sure if you decide to purchase a MacBook Pro get one with a lot of storage or purchase another external hard drive because the video sizes could be pretty large, especially if your recording 4k

Please try again later.I know this is an old thread ... but for those that are looking at this before purchasing a MBP, unless you think you need additional RAM, storage is cheap! You can purchase a USB extension hub and plug a micro usb thumb (128 GB) drive in and/or an external portable hard drive (1 TB- 4 TB), seeing how Apple chose to replace all of the typical USB drive slots for C versions along with the slot for an ssd card. I'm thinking they want us all to purchase cloud storage from them now instead. :(
