I had someone install a new samsung solid state hard drive and it took care of the problem. The whole cost was $200. My memory was being totally eaten by IPHOTO. I also upgraded to Yosemite which has the new Photos app and ditches IPHOTO. I like IPHOTO better but the new Photos app seems to have solved the problem along with the new solid state hard drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Upgrade your memory capacity...fairly easy on these models.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you absolutely need more RAM. I got an 8 gb card that cured these issues, and the machine can use up to 16 Gb. The more RAM, the better.

I would recommend bringing the computer back to the store and upgrading to the latest model of the Macbook Pro which will give you double the ram, a retina display, and a solid state hard drive so everything will run much more smoothly for you!

I have 8 and experience no problems with multiple programs. (Photoshop, Safari, iTunes, Mail.) On the other hand, I don't know exactly what you mean by "multiple tabs." I'm sure you can bring your system to its knees with enough "multiple tabs." Don't know what you may have added that's running in the background either. But the main thing is get 8 RAM if you can, although I'm not sure you can upgrade if your return period has run out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You may have too many apps running or perhaps a bug in the OS.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your Mac book is older you could replace the RAM yourself. But RAM is basically the only you can upgrade other than a Solid State Hard Drive. If you don't have one (best buy removed your specs when I'm writing this so my apologies for not knowing) I recommend you upgrade that first because 4 GB of RAM for office stuff should not be slowing your computer. If you have a standard hard drive (usually speed measured in RPM's) than you need to upgrade that first, it will make such a difference in your speed and it won't cost that much. Good luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Remove that app. It's usually what slows up your computer. If it doesn't help take the laptop to an Apple store to be checked out by a Genesis. You can add Apple Care for up to 1 year after you buy it, and students get a discount on it.
