Yes it is. Check you System Preferences and you should see Mouse. That's how you can configure for shortcuts. It works with Bluetooth.

This mouse is compatible with any computer with bluetooth connectivity. To my knowledge, the Macbook air does have bluetooth.

I use it with a MacBook Air, but I had to download a newer OS.

I use this mouse on Desk Top Imac, dont know about Airbook
