This unit has an attached usb cord. To use with a newer Mac that only has usb-c ports, you will need to purchase a usb to usb-c female to male cord. Note: the unit will not work using a peripheral usb hub. Not enough power goes through the hub and you will get an error message. LG makes a similar super drive for macs with a detachable cord, so you can connect it to a usb-c port without the adaptor. You still need to buy a new cord though because it comes with usb and mini usb connections.

I've spent 2 hrs already trying to find a dual cd/dvd external that will work with MBP, can work with a C-adapter, can possibly work with a hub (I will have to connect a lot of stuff to the MBP) and has an manual eject. Maddening. So many ifs, buts, perhaps, mights. I need to make copies of DVDs that are old of family photos and movies, so the DVDs are a BACK up to other methods of backing up. Should be simple, right? Right.
