No, you would need to get bands that are comparable with 42/44 versions of the Apple Watch. (Bands that fit the smaller version of the watch are designated as 38/40 mm.)

However, I checked at Apple store, and my Series 3 42mm Bands do work on Series 5 40 or 44mm watches, but on 40mm there is overhang, it is awkward, but at 44mm it is a better fit all around. I will have upgraded to Series 5 44mm and I can reuse 42mm Series 3 replacement bands, confirmed.
