You can view, read, and respond to texts and calls(and answer or make calls) as long as you’re in Bluetooth distance of your iPhone. This includes Facebook messenger, email, etc. the only reason to get the cellular model is if you wanted to leave your phone at home or in the car (out of Bluetooth range) otherwise, it works the same.
