• I bought a series 3 without cellular and I can live with it. As long as my cell is close to me I can answer calls on my watch anytime.

• Yes, you can still make texts and calls as long as your iPhone is within range. The only difference with having the cellular version is that you don’t have to have your phone nearby to operate these features.
