That depends on the size of your house. It can stay connected for a reasonable distance but can also connection to WiFi to maintain some connectivity.

I have a 2000 sq ft house and have walked around the house and not disconnected, hope this helps!

Correct. I can use it all around my house (3 floors). Although when outside the distance is less but better and more noticeable than the 3.
