Do you have to get a connection thru your carrier for this watch to work or will it just work with your Iphone? I would like for the person receiving it to make that decision. null

You can choose not to activate the cellular. Then it would work just through the Bluetooth connection to your iPhone. That would be the same functionality as the watch without cellular connectivity.

You get to make the decision. I personally bought a cellular one for a 'just in case' type scenario. I currently just use the GPS / standard features. Maybe someday i'll hook it up to cellular. hope this helps... But to be clear - you have to buy the cellular version (which is more expensive) to be able to make the decision. Otherwise you'll just get the watch that's dependent on your phone.

I have a celluar plan with my watch so that I can use with or without having my phone connected. I am able to make and receive phone calls messages even if i leave my phone at hope.

I do not have my watch set up with my carrier for use without the phone. Works great as long as you have you phone nearby.

It will work with just the phone. You only connect to the carrier if you get the watch with cellular, if you get the non-cellular, it just connects to the phone or WiFi when available.
