The gps only means you have to have your phone nearby to use some of the watch features. The Carrier give you the option to buy the watch it's own phone line meaning you wouldnt need to have your phone nearby to use all the watch features.

Carrier fps simply means it requires a phone carrier to activate cellular, basically it is phone. Non- carrier is Bluetooth only so you have to have your phone on you.
