• With this model no but if you get the model with gps you can get a sim card installed which allows for texting and calling without a phone in range.

• The Apple Watch GPS version will allow you to make and receive calls and texts as long as your phone is within range. In order to complete these tasks without your phone nearby, you would need to purchase the Cellular option of the watch- be aware that your cellular provider requires the watch to have its own line.
