the motion sensor will be triggered with any movement in the camera range.  You can angle the camera to exclude what you don't want.

FYI these cameras require a paid monthly subscription to use this or record video.  without it you can only play live video unsaved.  The paid version also offers 'activity zones' that you can setup smaller than the camera view.

In general, the camera is of course designed to catch all motion in the direction the camera is facing. However, this camera does allow you to create what they call activity zones. This will allow you to outline a specific area in which you want the camera to focus on and send you alerts on. You can make multiple activity zones. This will allow you to cut down on random notifications and extend battery life.
