The Essential cameras have a fixed battery, so you can’t swap or replace them. This is a cost reduction design choice and though logical, it is the reason I will not buy another “Essential” model camera. I purchased two when I saw they can work on wifi without a base station, but at the time, I didn’t see that they are incompatible with the Pro 3 and Pro 4 accessories and do not have removable batteries. Without removable batteries, you must take the camera down and plug it in in order to recharge it (assuming you don’t power it via a cable). This can be a royal pain depending on where you mount your camera. Also, your camera is most likely out of service while you recharge it. So consider where you want to place your camera before choosing the model. For me, the Pro 4 is a sweet spot, it shares the accessories with Pro 3 and Ultra cameras, but has the flexibility to connect to my own WiFi when my location demands it…and removable batteries which allow for a very quick battery swap with the camera fixed in place.
